Getting Around Pattaya
Pattaya is the focal point for all the
entertainment, shopping and commercial development on the eastern seaboard.
Travelling around Pattaya is most convenient by mini-buses that continually ply
the Beach Road and Pattaya 2nd Road in counterclockwise circuits. Jump in
and call out the destination and pay the fare after you have stopped.
To the main bay area, fares are 5 Baht per person per
ride.
To Naklua, a popular run for locals going to the market,
the fare is Bath 10.-per person.
To Jomtien, the fare is Baht 30.- per person. Over the
hill to Royal Cliff Beach Resort, the fare is Baht 40.- per person.
If you experience a problem with a Bus driver about the price, remember
its number and complain to: Pattaya City Manager # 429-216, Banglamung
District Baht Bus Cooperative # 221-271 or # 423-554.
Those
who wish to explore independently Pattaya’s surrounding countryside and
beaches at leisure, can hire motorcycles, jeeps or cars. The visitor is advised
to shop around and consult local tourism publications, for
different companies offer different prices and conditions. Top choices are Avis
Rent-a-Car, Holiday Car Rent and Pattaya Car Rent Centre, All of these companies have
cars that are fully insured and up to international car
hire standards. Avis Rent-a-Car, has a fleet of 50 Daihatsu Mira cars, which
are ideal for touring around town.
A 24 hour limousine service is also available at the hotel.
