First Triathlon Training Camp in
Trang
Held from 10.03 - 13.03 at the
Amari Trang Beach Resort, Thailand
Turquoise sea, limestone formations, lush tropical forest and five-star
facilities formed the breathtaking backdrop for a Triathlon Training Camp
organised by TRIBOB Events Company from Singapore.
Apart from the five-star luxury services, there was nothing comfortable about
the camp as 12 Athletes from Australia, Germany, Malaysia, England and Holland
soon found out. The professional coaches worked out a grueling training regime,
which started with a leisurely 100-kilometre bike ride, shortly after landing in
Krabi.
The exhausted group was welcomed by the Resort General Manager Mr Andreas
Mueller and his assistant Mr Philip Reutener and was served refreshing juices
and much needed cold towels. Then, after a carbo-loading pasta dinner and a good
night's rest, swimming was on the training schedule for the next day.
Supported by the Resort's luxury catamaran and under the trainers' watchful
eyes, the group swam 5 kilometres in the open sea from Koh Muk to Koh Kradan,
the location of the Amari Trang Beach Resort's private Beach Club. Here, the
Athletes received a warm welcome and enjoyed rest and a sumptuous lunch, before
returning by boat to the Resort.
Bikes stood in waiting and, after a short change of attire, they were off on
a 60-km bike ride, followed by an easy jog on the beach, into the sunset.
Day three and a 180-km long distance bike ride proved to be the toughest
challenge, as midday temperatures rose to 38?C. The Resort's activity team
provided support, following the riders closely with drinks, first aid and
technical assistance, until the team arrived back safely at the Resort and
enjoyed a well-deserved spa treatment at the Amari Trang Beach Resort Sivara
Spa.
The last day saw a 10-km morning beach run, and the General Manager joined in
the run, achieving a personal best time over that distance.
A complete success, TRIBOB with return next year with another Triathlon
Training Camp. For information and further details, visit www.tribob.com, or contact gm@trangbeach.amari.com.
