Press Release
Northern Thailand - The Hot New Destination for the European Market
Business is booming in Northern Thailand. The growth of the soft
adventure and nature niche markets has widened the appeal of Chiang Mai
and the surrounding areas. Amari Hotels and Resorts, which has a hotel
in Chiang Mai and a nature resort in Doi Angkhang, has been seeing a
tremendous increase in interest to these destinations. Series business
from Europe, particularly from the German and Dutch markets, is on the
increase with tour operators such as Neckermann, TUI, LTU, De Boer and
Wendal leading the way.
Vice President Sales and Marketing for Amari Hotels and Resorts, Mr.
Duncan Webb, attributes the success of the area to its versatility and
broad appeal.
¡°Not only are we seeing a growth in business from what were
previously niche markets, we are also getting increased demand for
incentive events. The variety of activities which are available in the
Chiang Mai and Doi Angkhang mean that we can put together a variety of
packages with an adventure, nature or culture theme¡±.
The Angkhang Nature Resort, which is managed by Amari, is situated a
comfortable, three-hour drive from Chiang Mai through some of Thailand¡¯s
most spectacular scenery. Its mountain location, cool climate and the
scenic beauty of the surrounding countryside make it the ideal getaway
for nature lovers. In addition, the area is excellent for bird watching,
with many species of rare and migratory birds. Mountain biking, hill
walking, mule-riding and trekking are some of the other activities
available and there are five hill tribe villages in the nearby area. The
resort is located next to the Royal Angkhang Station Project which
focuses on developing a variety of marketable agricultural produce for
the surrounding hill tribe villages.
The Amari Rincome Hotel is close to Chiang Mai¡¯s
historical walled city and reflects the unique culture of the north. Works
of art and antiques can be found throughout the hotel and the restaurants
offer the opportunity to try special northern Thai dishes as well as
Italian and international favourites.
