Hidden Secrets - the Quick "Must See" Guide for Things You
Can do Near the Hotel
Wat Khunaram Temple
The body of the most famous mummified monk, Loung Por Daeng, is on
display here in a specially constructed building. After his
death 20 years ago, he was placed in a meditation position. He
still holds that posture and his body shows few signs of decay.
Living Thailand
Bringing back a bit of the traditional rural Thai way of life to Samui,
Living Thailand offers a very pleasant diversion from rigours of the
beach. Situated amongst paddy fields and rolling hills in the
south of the island, visitors to Living Thailand can enjoy buffalo cart
rides, a buffalo theater and a Thai farming museum. The show
includes demonstrations of rice planting and paddy ploughing, with which
visitors are welcome to join in.
Thai Cooking
One of the best thing about Thailand is of course is
the food. If you want to have more than a passing knowledge of
classic Thai dishes, then you can learn how to cook them
yourself. A culinary institute and several hotels offer
demonstrations and hands-on practical experience in Thai ingredients and
cooking techniques.
