Planning Your Wedding
E ach of our ceremonies follows the same
format as the traditional Thai wedding celebration as outlined
overleaf. Weddings at beach resorts and Lanna weddings differ only
in the location and the style of the costumes and decoration. The 'romance under the waves'
ceremony has a Buddhist ceremony and the additional underwater blessing.
In order to make a wedding ceremony in Thailand legally
binding, quite a lot of paper work is required upon arrival in
Thailand. For this reason, the celebrations for marriage which
we offer, are blessings.
These blessing ceremonies are exactly the same as a
wedding but there is no official registration and the couple is not
legally married after this ceremony. Couples can choose either to
register the wedding in thier own country prior to departure or complete
the registration process in Bangkok before going to the resort (it takes
at least 3 days). There are tour operators who specialise in wedding
services and you can get in touch with them in your own country to assist
with making the arrangements.
After the wedding, if you wish to extend your stay for a
honeymoon or invite overnight guests to your ceremony, special rates for
accommodation and meals may be available, subject to seasonality.
Alternatively, you may choose to have a blessing ceremony in
Thailand and have the 'legal wedding' at a registry office, church, temple
in your own country before or after your visit to Thailand. If
this is the case, click here for details of our blessing package .
